67-year-old man hacked to death by unknown persons in Enugu (graphic)

The Enugu state police command is currently investigating circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder of a 67-year-old man, Iloabani Eugene Anayo, by unidentified persons in Amamkpunato Achi, Oji-River on Tuesday, June 30. A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, said a preliminary investigation shows that the deceased was found in Achi forest with several degrees of machete cuts on the head and neck regions.  Ndukwe said the corpse of the deceased man has been deposited in the mortuary. He added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad AbdurRahman MCPSS, MCJ, MNIM has directed the immediate launch of a full-scale investigation to apprehend and prosecute the fleeing culprits. 3-year-old boy kidnapped from church in Anambra state

A 3-year-old boy has been missing for two days now after he was kidnapped from church on Sunday, June 28, 2020. The boy named Chimdindu Gerald Oledibe was kidnapped in a church at Umunze, Orumba South, Anambra state. He was kindapped alongside another child but the other child was later found in Ekwulobia. The family of the missing boy have issued a plea online. They are asking for help to find the missing child. See below.

2 year old girl died after drinking toilet cleaner at home before being found by sister

A two year old girl, Arietta-Grace Barnett, died after she drank toilet cleaner, a very poisonous household product, an inquest into her cause of death heard on Tuesday, June 30. Arietta-Grace Barnett was at home when she ingested the product and was found by her sister. She was then rushed by her sister to Southampton General Hospital. She returned home four days later after receiving treatment but suffered a nose bleed and began vomiting blood six days later then she died after she was rushed to the same hospital again.  The sad incident happened in June last year, Portsmouth Coroners Court heard today.  Her parents Lucy Cook and Scott Barnett attended the preliminary opening of the inquest according to the Sun UK. Area coroner for Hampshire, Portsmouth and Southampton, Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp said: "On the 28th June 2019 (she) ingested toilet cleaner. "On the 9th July, very sadly Arietta-Grace Barnett suffered a nose bleed and then she started vomiting blood.

Pregnant wife loses baby after contacting COVID-19 from husband who wouldn’t stop partying

A married lady identified as Molly has expressed her pain and anguish after losing her unborn child to COVID-19, due to her husband’s carelessness. Narrating her story via Twitter, the aggrieved wife who is based in Abuja, said she has always been observing the precautionary measures laid out by the NCDC, since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. She recounted how she even went the extra mile to wipe door knobs and groceries in order to prevent the pandemic from getting close to her family. However, when the lockdown was eased by FG, her husband began visiting friends and partying around, ignoring her advice to stay home and safe. Unfortunately, he attended a particular house party where he contacted the virus, brought it home and infected her with it, causing the death of her unborn child. Read her story below;

Mother of two stabbed to death by suspected armed robbers in Imo.

A married mother of two, Uchechi Ogoke, was stabbed to death while her two children were injured by suspected armed robbers in Ihitte Uboma local government area in Imo state today June 30. According to an eyewitness, the woman's husband is based in Malaysia. In the early hours of today, neighbors woke up to see the woman in a pool of her own blood while her two kids and the house help were injured. The eyewitness said the unidentified persons also took away her ATM card. The police were invited and her body has been evacuated and deposited in the mortuary.  The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed the incident and said an investigation into the incident has commenced. ''The persons broke into her house through the window with a gun and a matchete. They beat her and stabbed her all over her body until she gave up the ghost. They stole her jewelries and the sum of N28, 000'' Ikeokwu.

Court dismisses Oshiomhole's appeal challenging his suspension as APC Chairman

Adams Oshiomhole's appeal which challenged his suspension as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been dismissed by a Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja. Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam who led the 3-man panel which presided over the case, unanimously dismissed the appeal at the request of the former APC national chairman on Tuesday June 30. Recall that Justice Danlami Senchi of an Abuja High Court had given effect to the suspension of Oshiomhole from his ward, on grounds of executives of Ward 10 in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State acting in line with the constitution of the party.

Man beats girlfriend to death after she refused having sex with him (photos)

The police in Oyo state have arrested 26-year-old Shagbada Erigga for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Happiness Winifred, 30, for refusing to have sex with him Parading the suspect before newsmen today June 30, the Oyo state Commissioner of Police, CP. Chuks Enwonwu, said that the suspected murderer, Erigga invited Happiness, a mother of three, to his home to spend the night with him on June 21. They got into a heated argument after she refused to have sex with him. He punched her three times. She slumped and died and then he dumped her body inside a well in the Ojoo area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital. The police boss said men of the Ojoo Police Station began an investigation after one Mr. Agu Benson, a resident of Oritoke Area of Ojoo, Ibadan came to the police station to report that he went to fetch water in the well in his compound on June 25 and discovered a floating body. When interrogated, Shagbada confessed to the crime but said he “accidentally” killed Happiness. “

Governor Rotimi Akeredelo, has tested positive for the novel Coronavirus. The 63-year-old Ondo state governor announced this at a press conference in Akure, the state capital today June 30. ''I had malaria a few days ago and was treated. I did get over it and as at the time we had our party NEC and my colleagues called on me, I spoke with one of them who felt that malaria shouldn't be treated lightly but that I should go ahead and have a test for COVID19. We may increase fares over interstate travel COVID-19 guidelines - NURTW says

The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has said it might be increasing its fares due to the new guidelines issued by the federal government on interstate travel.  Kabiru Yau, NURTW acting general secretary, said this while reacting to the lifting of the ban on interstate travels by the Federal government. The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 on Monday, June 29 announced that interstate travel will commence from July 1st.  The National Coordinator of the taskforce, Aliyu Sani, said Interstate travel must be done before the 10pm to 4am national curfew and that vehicles must only carry fifty percent of their capacity.  Reacting to the new guidelines, Yalu said  “We thank the federal government for lifting the ban. One of the four ex-Minneapolis Police officers charged in George Floyd's killing will plead not guilty to all charges. J Alexander Kueng, 26, who is charged along with Derek Chauvin, 44, Tou Thao, 34, and Thomas Lane, 37,  made his intentions known in a court filing obtained by DailyMail.com.  The papers filed by attorney Thomas Plunkett state that the ex-cop intends to plead not guilty and use the defenses of self-defense, justifiable force, and authorized use of force. Nigerian man in prison for 6 years without trial after he was allegedly arrested while charging his laptop at his neighbour's house

IGP orders probe of policemen who arrested D’Banj’s rape accuser, Seyitan Babatayo

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the probe of the policemen who allegedly arrested D'banj's rape accuser, Seyitan Babatayo.  The IGP gave the order in a letter signed on his behalf by his Principal Staff Officer, DCP Idowu Owohunwa and addressed to the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department, Garki. The IGP's letter was sequel to a petition written by Seyitan’s lawyer, Ojoge, Omileye and Partners.  In the IGP's letter titled  "Re: Petition Against Inspector Abraham, Supol Ugowe and the Entire Police Officers Team at Ikeja, Lagos Division of the Inspector General of Police", the IGP asked that the petition from Seyitan Babatayo's lawyer be addressed.  The petition from Babatayo's legal representative - Ojoge, Omileye and Partners -  allege that policemen attached to the Intelligence Response Team arrested Seyitan on the directive of D’Banj and detained her for over 24 hours.  It

Kidnappers kill Medical doctor and his son after collecting N7.5m ransom from his family

The University of Lagos, UNILAG has acquired profiling Robots capable of detecting Covid-19 and for the purpose of enhancing studies. This was disclosed by the university management via their Twitter handle on Monday, June 29. It tweeted, “Today, UnilagNigeria received a donation of some cloud-based intelligent humanoid robots, CRZR from @ThePlatformCap. The four former Minneapolis police officers charged in George Floyd's killing appeared before a judge on Monday, June 29. Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng, and Thomas Lane, who are accused of aiding and abetting in Floyd's death, appeared before Judge Peter Cahill on Monday afternoon in a courtroom at the Hennepin County Jail in downtown Minneapolis. Nigerian lady dies of ulcer barely two months after complaining of hardship

A Nigerian lady identified as Sandra Chinenye Obioha has unfortunately lost her life barely two months after crying out on facebook over hunger. Late Sandra Obioha had taken to Facebook on 4th April, 2020 to lament over hardship caused by COVID-19 lockdown. Her post reads; “If I die in this lockdown, no need for autopsy. FG reopens schools for only graduating students; Primary and daycare centers to remain closed. Lifts ban on Interstate travels

The Federal government has extended the ease of lockdown beginning from tomorrow Tuesday, June 30 to July 29.  Announcing this at the daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID19, the National Co-ordinator, Dr Sani Aliyu, said the extension of the eased lockdown however comes with some modifications.  Aliyu mentioned that the ban on interstate travel will be lifted as from July 1st. He said interstate travel must only be done outside the national curfew hours which is between 10pm and 4am. So people can travel between 4am to 10pm. He said anyone without a facemask will not be allowed into any motor park and that commercial buses will only be allowed to operate on 50% capacity. Girl, 13, "pregnant by boy aged10" is rushed to hospital with birth complications

A  pregnant Russian girl, who claimed a 10-year-old boy is the father of her unborn child, has been rushed to hospital with birth complications. Darya Sudnishnikova was aged just 13 when she appeared on TV to claim 10-year-old Ivan, aka Vanya, is responsible for her pregnancy.  In January, Darya told TV viewers: "It was Vanya's idea (to have sex).
