UNIBEN Student Raped Inside Church In Edo, Dies (Graphics Photos)

Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa, a 100 level student of the University of Benin, from the department of Microbiology, faculty of Life Sciences, has died from injuries sustained from rape. The 22-year-old victim was said to have been raped on Friday 29th May near Ikpoba Hill in Benin City, at her church, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). Igbere TV gathered that the deceased had gone to the church to read as usual, in preparation for the lifting of the coronavirus-imposed shutdown of schools. The perpetrators were said to have attacked her at the RCCG Ohovbe road branch, raped and smashed her head with a fire extinguisher, leaving her for dead. Miss Vera was rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), where she battled for her dear life at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). COVID-19: 553 new cases as doctors threaten strike

The fight against the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in the country is facing a fresh challenge, following a threat by the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) to call out its members on an indefinite strike. Doctors accused government of failure to resolve issues revolving around their welfare and safety and want the matter resolved within 14 days. With confirmed cases of COVID-19 rising to 9,855 nationwide on Saturday, a strike by the resident doctors at this time is capable of throwing spanner in the works with regard to fighting the pandemic. Nigerian Doctors threaten indefinite strike amid covid-19 pandemic

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, have threatened to embark on an indefinite strike should FG fail to resolve issues bothering on welfare and safety of Nigerian Doctors. NARD made this known on Saturday, May 30, in a recent interview with The Nation. The association stated that the Federal Government is paying lip service to the welfare of health workers, especially when it concerns the review of hazard allowances and life insurance. While demanding for the reinstatement of 26 of its members who were unethically sacked in Jos, the Association disclosed that some States government have slashed the salaries of health workers not minding the economic huddles that came with the pandemic. Police Arrest 43-year-old Man For Defiling His 15-year-old Daughter In Abuja

The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has arrested a 43-year-old man for allegedly defiling his 15-year-old daughter in Lugbe area of Abuja. The Commissioner of Police in FCT, Mr Bala Ciroma, disclosed on Friday this at a media briefing in Abuja. Ciroma said the suspect was mentally stable and had confessed to having carnal knowledge of his daughter on several occasions. He said that another suspect was also arrested for luring and forcefully having carnal knowledge of a six-year-old boy. He said the suspect told the police that he committed the unnatural act with the minor while they were swimming at a river in Mpape. Kidnap suspect shot dead, another arrested

A kidnap suspect have been shot dead and another arrested as police in Enugu rescue three kidnap victims. A statement signed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Daniel Ndukwe said the feat was recorded in two separate operations on May 16th and 26th respectively. He disclosed that the operatives engaged the suspected kidnappers in a gun duel at their hideout, leading to the death of one and the arrest of the other, who sustained severe bullets injury. Preliminary investigation, he said, reveals that two of the victims, a father and daughter, were reported kidnapped on 15/05/2020 at about 5:pm, by armed men at a building site in Eziama Abakpa-Nike.
