Joshua walks for George Floyd in Watford despite injury.

Anthony Joshua has shown his support for the Black Lives Matter movement by attending a protest march in his hometown. The WBA, WBO and IBF world heavyweight champion took to the streets of Watford on Saturday to campaign following the controversial death of African American George Floyd in Minneapolis. Hundreds of demonstrators joined Joshua in the peaceful protest, which involved two separate walks through Watford’s town centre. At one stage Joshua addressed those on the march by speaking over a microphone. He was wearing a hooded jumper with ‘Black Lives Matter’ written across the front, like a number of other people on the march. Joshua had to use a scooter and crutches to take part, as he recovers from a leg injury sustained in training. Fear in Aba market as customer dies in hotel

SHOEMAKERS at Powerline axis of Ariaria International Market, Aba now live in fear after one of their active customers reportedly died in a popular hotel in the commercial city apparently of COVID-19. Report of the female customer came soon after she came in contact with some of the shoemakers. The deceased, who was based in Kaduna, was said to be a regular patron of the hotel where she usually lodged whenever she was in town. Sources said the woman, who was a footwear dealer, died a few days after arriving Aba from Kaduna State. It was gathered that her body was taken to the Abia State Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH), Aba, under the supervision of police personnel from the Abayi Police Division. Sources at the market said she was known to many of the shoemakers from whom she used to buy goods over several years. It was a pitiable sight at the Ogbeide Street off NNPC Depot Fence Road residence residence of the family of 22 year-old female student of University of Benin, Uwaila Omozuwa, who was raped and murdered last week. Her mother, in between sobs, narrated the pains the family was going through over the death of Uwaila. She was reportedly gang-raped and beaten by her assailants who inflicted deep head injuries on her and abandoned for dead. The church security guard was said to have discovered the incident when he went to collect the keys to the church and was told that somebody had earlier come to collect the key and was inside the church. EFCC: 16 ‘Yahoo boys’ sent to prison

Justice Mohammed Abubakar of the Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has jailed sixteen internet fraudsters. The judge gave his ruling on Friday, according to a statement by Dele Oyewale, spokesman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Those convicted were found guilty of criminal impersonation and possession of documents containing false pretences. They are Ajibola Ibikunle, Victor Solomon Osahun, Adeniyi Afeez Adebayo, Enitan Babajide Ganiu, Ashore Gbogbo Ayo, Sobayo Oladapo, Odebode Abiola Jamiu and Dairo Emmanuel Olajide. Others are Stephen Mathew, Hussain Abdulkabir, Ayanniyi Quadri Ayansegun, Ajibike Kehinde Segun, Ibironke Tomiwa Emmanuel, Agboola Olanrewanju Shakiru, Abdulrauf Adam Opeyemi and Akinlabi Royal Ebube. The convicts, all in their mid-20s, pleaded guilty to one-count charge of impersonation separately filed against them by the EFCC. Rapper Zoro reacts after a lady accused him of rape

Nigerian rapper, Owoh Chimaobi Chrismathner popularly known as Zoro has reacted to the rape allegation levelled against him. Recall that a lady alleged Zoro raped her in his friend’s house in the Magodo area of Lagos on April 20th, 2015.  The lady also claimed that Zoro’s manager reached out to her and is trying to intimidate her. Reacting to the lady’s rape accusation, the rapper wondered why she is trying to accuse him falsely and what she hopes to gain from the allegations. He said that rape is nasty act which he will never partake in. Police confirm murder of postgraduate student in Ibadan

The Police Command in Ibadan has confirmed the death of one Shomuyiwa Azeezat, a female postgraduate student of the University of Ibadan, who was on Friday murdered in her apartment at Aba Ijefun, Akinyele area, by yet-to-be-identified persons. The State’s Police Public Relations Officers (PPRO), Olugbenga Fadeyi, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said a stone was used to smash the head of the deceased. According to him, an investigation into the incident had commenced. “Men of the police have also been deployed around that axis to provide maximum protection of life and property in the area,” he added. NAN reports that Azeezat was seven-months pregnant, and also a postgraduate student of the Department of Social Work in the Faculty of Education.
