The embattled Acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, was on Wednesday confronted with more allegations. The Justice Ayo Salami-led Presidential panel asked him to account for 380 houses and seven vessels loaded with crude oil. The probe panel also grilled on him on the disposal of assets worth N37 billion. Magu is being grilled, following allegations raised against him by Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami(SAN). The panel started quizzing Magu on Monday after his arrest by detectives in Abuja. On Tuesday, he was grilled on cash discrepancies said to be N539 billion realised from the sale of seized assets and N504 billion declared by the commission. A kind-hearted dog has warmed the hearts of many after a video surfaced online, showing it removing a log from the path of a blind man. A Pune City police commissioner in the western Indian state of Maharashtra triggered emotions when he posted the video on Twitter. In the video, the dog is seen using its mouth to remove the long log which the blind man was probably unaware of, from the road all in a bid to save him from not falling. Interestingly, the was walking with someone who appeared to be its owner and didn’t know the visually impaired man from anywhere. As soon as it saw the vulnerable man maneuvering his way through the streets with his cane it ran quickly towards it as it tried to get rid of it with its teeth and succeeded in saving the blind man. The kind gesture of the dog left its owner in awe as she turned and watched her pet engage in a humanitarian activity she should have done but ignored and instead, appeared to have made a mockery of the man. A yet-to-be-identified motorcycle rider was shot dead allegedly by a police officer around Banana junction in Orlu, Imo state today July 9. According to reports, the policeman had stopped the motorcycle rider for not wearing a face mask. An altercation ensued between both men after the Okada man allegedly refused to give a N50 bribe. The area is currently in Chaos as residents are demanding justice for the deceased Okada rider. The spokesperson of the state police command is yet to comment on the incident. A group of Igbo men have come together to save a Nigerian man who was seen in a viral video being tortured by a dreaded Pakistani gang after his "brother" named Andrew used him as a collateral and absconded without paying the gang back. The Nigerian man explained that he will be killed on July 10 if Andrew does not pay back what he owes the gang. He then begged his uncle to sell everything they have and pay a man named "Nuruz". A group of wealthy Igbo men have now come to his aid and are willing to pay to get him his freedom. In a video shared online, the Igbo men, one of them a US-based man, explained that they've spoken with Nuruz - the head of the gang - and reasoned with him and he promised to be fair to the Nigerian man and preserve his life. A three-year-old Japanese girl starved to death after her mother left her alone for eight days and went to visit her boyfriend 600 miles away. The mother, Saki Kakehashi, 24, from Tokyo, admitted that she left her daughter Noa all by herself so she could go visit her lover in Kagoshima Prefecture on Kyushu island, an almost two-hour flight away from Tokyo. But did not expect her child to die of severe dehydration and hunger. The divorcée said she thought 'it would be alright' to leave the child alone in their apartment in the city's Ota Ward, The Japan Times reported. Takahashi was arrested on Tuesday, July 7, almost a month after she had arrived home on June 13 to find her daughter unresponsive in the apartment. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has petitioned the Inspector General of Police Muhammed Adamu, demanding for an investigation of "false" allegation of him allegedly taking N4b from the money allegedly stolen by suspended Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu. Jackson Ude, a former director of strategy and communications under President Goodluck Jonathan administration had alleged that Magu embezzled over N39 billion and gave Mr Osinbajo N4 billion for soft landing. He also claimed that the Vice President is being investigated over his "involvement in the scandal". Nigeria's image has been dented so bad that multiple institutions abroad, especially in Dubai, have begun rejecting Nigerians who are applying for school or jobs. To prevent Nigerians from applying at all, a number of these companies added a clause in their job adverts stating that candidates of every nationality can apply except Nigerians. A vacancy for merchandisers was advertised by Shirley Recruitment Consultants in Dubai. However, they stated that they do not want Nigerians. "Male or female African candidates except Nigerians," one job advert from Dubai reads. Another reads: "Candidates of every nationality, except Nigerians, should apply." Men of the Abia state police command have arrested one Mrs Rose Uwaga for allegedly strangling her 83-year-old husband, Alhaji Isa Uwaga, in Umuahia, the state capital. Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, Geoffrey Ogbonnaya, said one of Uwaga’s children, Ibeabuchi, reported the matter to the police on July 2. Ibeachi told the police that he left home that morning with his parents quarrelling about an issue. He said he returned home later only to find his late father in a sitting position.  Investigations by the police indicates that the couple had a misunderstanding on that day and this degenerated into a fight in their residence at Ohobo-Afara in Umuahia. The deceased allegedly picked up a machete to scare his wife. The woman who has a huge stature, allegedly held him by the neck and strangled him. A nursing mother was recently nabbed at a hair shop in Balogun market, Lagos after she allegedly tried to steal human hairs worth N200,000. According to the hair vendor identified as Kingsley, this isn’t the first time the same lady would be stealing human hairs from his shop. He said she came over some time ago and stole hairs. She was caught and he later allowed her go free after she pleaded with him. Senator Rochas Okorocha’s request for an order to stop the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the state probe panel from investigating him on alleged financial infractions, has been struck out by a federal high court sitting in Abuja.  Okorocha had requested for a court order ending or suspending EFCC's investigation against him, including all the petitions submitted to it by the Imo government until the panel on contract set up by the same state government had concluded its probe on his government between 2011 and 2019.
