Kwara man allegedly rejects his daughter because she has blue eyes

A little girl with blue eyes has allegedly been rejected by her father because of her eye colour, it has been claimed. Alabi Rukayat Oyindamola shared the girl's story on Facebook. She explained that she met the girl's family when she travelled to Ilorin for the Eid break. She further claimed that the father rejected the girl and her late sister because of their blue eyes. Sharing photos of the girl, she wrote: "Hello! I traveled to ilorin this Eid period and I saw this small girl she lives around my house(ilorin). Her name is Kaosara she is 8years of age, she is an indigen, she also has a junior sister Hassanat (kehinde). her taiwo is late due to lack of proper care and and rejection from the father because she has special qualities(her blue eyes). Her mother's name is Risiqot."

Seven women found dead in a beauty salon in Niger state

Seven women were found dead in a beauty salon in the Rijau Local Government Area of Niger State on Thursday, July 30.  The spokesperson of the state police command, Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed this to newsmen, said the victims, two married women and five single ladies, had gone to the salon to make their hair in preparation for Sallah when they met their untimely death. Eyewitnesses say the women died from inhaling fumes from the generator used in the salon. The area had experienced a heavy downpour that Thursday, which affected their power supply. In order to continue servicing her customers, the salon owner reportedly brought in a generator into the salon and closed the door. The women sadly inhaled the fumes, causing them to choke to death. While five of them died on the spot, two others died in the hospital where they were rushed to. Wasiu said the bodies have been released to the families for burial and investigations into the incident have commenced.

Disturbing photos of a 7-year-old boy who was gruesomely beaten by his stepfather

A seven-year-old boy has been left with multiple injuries after he was gruesomely beaten by his stepfather.  Shocking photos shared online shows the boy with a swollen face and wounds all over his body. As for his crime, it was reported that the little boy in the afternoon, ate some parts of the food that was meant for dinner. It is unclear where the incident occurred, but the National Human Rights Commission of Nigeria is following up on the case.

Married bikeman rapes 12-year-old girl to death

A married commercial motorcyclist identified simply as Dare, has been arrested for raping a 12-year-old girl identified as Zainab Justina Adeyemo to death.  The deceased had boarded the suspect's motorcycle in Akoko area of the state, but was forcefully dragged into a bush where the suspect raped her to death on Friday July 17, 2020. Dare who admitted to carrying the girl on his motorcyle after almost being lynched by his colleagues, said Zainab died as result of the struggle that ensued between them.  Speaking to Vanguard, Zainab's mother said;  “On getting to the police station, now visibly frightened Dare pleaded that he should be treated gently assuring that the missing girl would eventually be seen. Ogun state government mandates all returning students to undergo COVID-19 tests

As students in exiting classes prepare to resume for academic activities nationwide on Monday, August 3, the Ogun state government has mandated all students in boarding houses to undergo Malaria and COVID-19 tests as that would make them admissible into their boarding houses. Woman crashes wedding claiming to be pregnant with groom's child (video)

A woman crashed a wedding ceremony in Detroit and shocked guests as she claimed to be carrying the groom's child. Footage of the incident has gone viral on TikTok though it's not clear when it was recorded.   The pregnant woman turned up at the outdoor wedding while the officiating Minister was reading the vows to the couple at the dome-shaped patio. As soon as she made her entrance, she began screaming. She is heard saying: "Anthony! You pretend you didn't know me? didn't get your psych med today? "Anthony I know you hear me! Dubai crown prince settles hospital bill of Nigerian couple stranded with their quadruplets

Dubai crown prince, Hamdan bin Mohammed has paid the hospital bill of a Nigerian family that was stranded in the country.  It was reported earlier that Tijani and Suliyah Abdulkareem who welcomed their quadruplets at the Latifa Hospital for Women and Children on July 1, had no medical insurance and were indebted to the tune of $120,000. They incurred the medical bill after their babies (two boys and two girls) were placed on ventilators at the neonatal intensive care unit after being born prematurely.  Expressing gratitude to Hamdan bin Mohammed for coming to their aid, Abdulkareem said two of the children will be named after him while one of the girls will be named after the hospital. He said;  “It’s just a huge favour, and we are still in shock because we didn’t even know how to get the money. Egypt court sentences five young women to prison for posting "indecent" dance videos on TikTok

An Egyptian court has sentenced five young women to two years in prison for posting "indecent" dance videos on TikTok.   The prosecution statement named two of the defendants 20-year-old student Haneen Hossam and 22-year-old Mawada Eladhm and said the other three helped run their social media accounts. The women were also fined 300,000 Egyptian pounds (A$26,000) each for "violating the values and principles of the Egyptian family," inciting debauchery and promoting human trafficking, according to a statement from the public prosecutor. Haneen Hossam and Mawada Eladhm rose to fame though TikTok, amassing millions of followers for their video snippets which include sharing of footage of themselves wearing makeup, posing in cars, dancing in kitchens and making funny skits. However, their social media stardom became their undoing in a country, where citizens can land in prison for vague crimes such as “misusing social media,” “disseminating fake news,” or “inciting deba

Orji Uzor Kalu receives rousing welcome in Abia as he returns home months after he was released from prison (photos)

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu received a rousing welcome when he returned to Abia state on Monday, July 27, months after he was released from prison. Recall that in December 2019, the former Abia state governor was sentenced to 12 years in prison after he was convicted for N7.1bn fraud alongside his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited, and a former Director of Finance during his tenure, Ugo Udeogu. The Supreme court on May 8, 2020, then nullified Kalu and Udeogo's conviction on grounds that the presiding judge, Justice Mohammed Idris, lacked the jurisdiction to have presided over their case. He was  released from Kuje prison on June 3, 2020. On Monday, July 27, he made a triumphant return to the state and was received by his teeming supporters. See more photos below

Two pastors bag 26 years in jail for allegedly stealing N32m

Justice F. N. Azinge of the Delta State High Court sitting in Otor-Udu has convicted and sentenced the duo of Pastor Glory Okeoghene Aberefa and Reverend Vincent Okpogo to 16 and 10 years imprisonment respectively for allegedly stealing N32m. A statement from the EFCC says the convicts, alongside their company, Mustard Seed Micro Investment Limited, were prosecuted by the Benin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on 16-count charges, bordering on conspiracy to steal and stealing, contrary to Section 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, CAP 21, Vol 1, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria, 2006. They pleaded “not guilty” to the charges, upon their arraignment on June 19, 2017. Their trial by the EFCC legal team of V. O. Agbaje and K. U. Udus followed a petition and investigation which fingered them in the stealing of the sum of N32,516,620.00 (Thirty-Two Million, Five Hundred and Sixteen Thousand, Six Hundred and Twenty Naira). Two die as container falls on bus in Lagos (photos)

Two persons have been confirmed dead while three others were injured after a 20-feet container fell on a commercial bus at Ilasamaja on the Oshodi-Badagry Expressway in Lagos state. A statement released by the Director-General Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, today July 27,  said the accident occurred on Sunday, July 26 and that the dead bodies and injured persons were taken to the Isolo General Hospital. Oke-Osanyintolu said those who died had been identified as a male and female. He said when the LASEMA Responder got to the scene, it discovered that the truck with registration number SGM 715 XA and loaded with a 20-ft container had collided with the commercial bus discharging passengers under the bridge at Ilasamaja at about 7p.m. He said that three other passengers, including the bus driver, sustained injuries and were transferred to the Isolo General Hospital by LASEMA’’s Responder.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, has said that security in Nigeria is currently way better than it was five years ago. Nurse allegedly hacks his wife and two children to death in Osun

The police in Osun state have arrested a Nurse identified as Tunde Oyeniran, for allegedly using a cutlass to kill his wife and their two children at their home in Inisa town in the state on Friday, July 24. Spokesperson of the state police command, Yemisi Opalola, who confirmed this to newsmen, said Oyeniran allegedly hacked his wife and children to death and thereafter used the cutlass to inflict cuts on himself in the hand and stomach. He then raised an alarm claiming that his family was attacked by hoodlums. Opalola said Oyeniran has been arrested and is currently being treated for the injuries on his body. She said a preliminary investigation revealed a foul play.
